Gibran Khalil Gibran and New York: A new pavilion at the Gibran Museum – Bsharreh – Northern Lebanon Agosto 2024 Archivo - Archive Ciencias y Comunicación - Science and Communication 24 de agosto de 202425 de agosto de 2024 Bcharreh, 24 Aug (GNC) – The Gibran National Committee opened at the Gibran Museum on July 3, 2024, in the frame of “Beirut Art Days”, a permanent new pavilion named «Gibran Khalil Gibran and New York». This permanent exhibit, which features 27 paintings from the Gibran Museum’s collection, reveals a distinguishing characteristic of the artist’s work, allowing the visitors to fully immerse themselves in his world and his New York life (1911–1931). Only four of these paintings were known to the public and twenty-three were exposed for the first time. These paintings portray the most famous figures that Gibran encountered or befriended during his stay in New York. Each of them has a story or a tale to reflect Gibran’s personality and his world. «Your friend is your needs«, he said. Among these portrayed figures are the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, the founder of the Baha’i Faith, Abbas Effendi, known as Abdul-Baha, the Indian poet Tagore, the American painter Albert Reeder, the American poet Leonora Speer, the American artist Cecilia Poe, the Norwegian writer Johan Boger… Each painting is displayed with a photograph of the portrayed figure and a description of the relationship that connected him/her to Gibran while meeting in Gibran’s studio at the 10th Street of Greenwich Village – New York where he lived, painted, and wrote. Visiting the “Gibran Khalil Gibran and New York” pavilion at the Gibran Museum in Bcharreh is a unique experience that allows visitors to explore and immerse themselves in a hitherto undiscovered universe of Gibran.
