Carel Hassoun

We had the chance to speak with the  Lebanese journalist Ms. Carel Hassoun about her professional background and work in the television.

Ms. Hassoun holds a master’s degree in journalism from the Lebanese University and works as a reporter and morning show host for more than 10 years in Tele Lumiere and Noursat English televisions.

She says in her own words “I discovered my real passion when I started to search about news, topics, and meeting with new people from my powerful position to transmit the truth, reality and culture to the audience

  • Why you chose to study journalism?

Since I was a child, watching tv shows and interviews piqued my curiosity. When I grew up I participated in presenting events… later. I was hesitating between being a lawyer or a journalist. then I discovered my real passion to search about news, and topics, meeting new people and being in a powerful position where I can transmit the truth, the reality, and the culture to the audience.

  • What advantages can be working for a religious television?

I believe that working in a religious channel gives us the chance to become closer to spiritual and religious virtues and to communicate with guests and people who share common interests. and at the same time to analyze social, medical, economical, and other fields topics in an objective way without getting involved. In addition to this, and from my own experience I found inner peace in my working place.

  • Is there a special relationship between you and the Creator?  If yes, how it affects your life and your surroundings?

Yes, of course, I can tell you that this special relationship between me and the creator is my powerful weapon that gives me strength in facing life difficulties and struggles.

I believe that every problem can be solved when you trust God and when you put your whole life in his hands.

The positive energy that I believe in, is a gift from God that helps me achieve my goals in life, noting that I still have many to fulfill. My family, friends, and colleagues can feel my special relationship with God, actually, it affects them positively.

In brief, I can say that I feel inner peace, happiness, and positivity.

  • What philosophical and spiritual principles arouse you?

I am very attached to spiritual principles. like hope, faith, honesty, acceptance, courage, humility, love, and especially services.

  • What principal difficulties do you typically encounter as a reporter. TV programmer and presenter?

In each work, a person can face difficulties. In my case, I really enjoy my work. Searching for important and deep subjects that can give the audience fruitful information is a persistent goal. Being up to date with everything, and finding the right persons and right guests for my programs and episode is one of my concerns.

  • How do you react to an aggressive and uncooperative interviewee especially when you are live?

Sincerely, I respect everyone, since we must treat others the way we like to be treated. When I’m live on tv, sometimes as a host, a guest surprises me with his special behaviors, but still. I thank God that I have never met an uncooperative guest. About a guest’s special behavior, I guess that the best course of action is to let the guest expresses himself freely, and then in a respected way, I end the interview on due time.

  • How do you ensure that your work is factually correct?

Being well knowledgeable on the subject we are discussing is the first crucial step in being prepared to conduct an interview. To ensure that the interview is successful, overall culture is also crucial. et, my sharp and welcoming personality helps me achieving best results.

  • You are a person who is working liberally, yet we are ignorant to know all about you. In this sequence, would you wish to contribute anything further to this interview?

I greatly appreciate your initiative and your confidence in me to conduct this fascinating conversation.

I strive to portray the best image of a Lebanese journalist who must be honest and true to herself before being to others. I am a journalist who reveres her work and fights for presenting the best with respect in every message.
